darwen music festival - may 26th
colourful start to the 2003 summer season with a street gig in darwen as part of the town's annual music festival. couple of new numbers tried out, 'louie, louie' and 'tide is high'. pitched outside the millstone and as eric morecambe once said.'we played all the right notes, but not necessarilly in the right order.' nice start - wot no trumpets?
garden of delights - platt fields, manchester may 31st.

this extraordinary event with up to thirty-odd acts, bands, street performers and curiosities on display was a surreal day in idyllic surroundings on a perfect summers day. the highlight and finale of the day was a syncronised drumming and firework display by french act, 'les commandos de percue'- out of this world. horaceX and brasshoppers also gave stunning performances.
we performed three sets, one bad and two up to our usual standard, and aired another new number, 'the peanut vendor' which proved a success.

sunday june 22nd - @ queen's park,
queen's park road, blackburn -
'a stroll in the park.'
summer's here and blowjangles are back to their best. in this local carnival day, we opened up proceedings with a parade through the park, culminating in a couple of static sets and another stroll in the park. in attendance for the first time this year were andrea and cheryl, the latter giving an impressive display on snare.
after the park we performed a 'mini set' at the gibraltar who were holding a barbecue. free beer and food ensued.
highlight of the day was the airing of another new number, 'rebirth' with it's rousing vocal finish of 'stand up for your rights.' although this number is not entirely new to the band, it's new arrangement certainly is.
